Devil’s Blues

was driving around tonight and lyrics started to fill my head. if you want to add music – or can actually sing unlike me… please let me know.

i was looking for the night life
went out for a drive
ended up at the cemetery
a bottle by my side

not a soul was stirring
the moon was hanging high
whiskey bottle empty
knew soon would be my time

i was looking for the night life
went out for a drive
ended up at the cemetery
a bottle by my side

then from the dark i heard a sound
a sound i know too well
the devils blues beneath the moon
gripped like a siren’s spell
i left my empty bottle
and went to take a walk
looking for the source of that song
went walking in the dark

i was looking for the night life
went out for a drive
ended up at the cemetery
a bottle by my side

among the headstone garden
he sat there all alone
the devil played harmonica
played the song that was my own
he said come her my child
don’t spend the night alone
join me for a bottle
together we’ll write your song
too late for that my daddy
my song’s already played
it’s echoed back through the cracks
this soul’s too late to save

i was looking for the night life
went out for a drive
ended up at the cemetery
a bottle by my side

poetry and music

as i’ve gotten more versed at doing spoken word recordings, i’ve started to incorporate music and effects to compliment the medium of voice.  these are some of my favorites recorded so far.

as i don’t expect to be releasing any albums soon, if you’re so inclined you can download all 10 tracks as mp3’s here. all tracks are under creative commons licensing.
